Greetings from Jewish Family Home Care

“Why Jewish Family Home Care is different”

In the Haggadah it is written “Why is this night different from all other nights?”  It can also be said “Why is this agency different from all other agencies?”  Let us explore the comparison.

Because of our Jewish connection we offer an understanding of values and traditions inherent in Jewish culture and observances.  To this end we utilize the services of Rabbi Michael Gold of Temple Beth Torah in Tamarac.  As our spiritual advisor, Rabbi Gold gives seminars to our health care providers on Kashrut, holidays and traditions.  We also incorporate the expertise and extensive background of our 10 office employees who run the gamut from children of Holocaust survivors to former citizens of the Soviet Union.  In addition to English, Spanish and German, our office staff speaks Yiddish, Russian and Hebrew.  Needless to say, this is of great advantage when communicating with clients in their native tongue and is of utmost importance to a feeling of Yiddishkeit.  Whether a client was born in Europe or New York City, he or she feels “at home” as soon as the phone is answered with “Shalom, Jewish Family Home Care.”

Jewish Family Home Care is proud of our commitment to the Jewish community of Broward County.

And now you know why we are “different”.

Jewish Family Home Care - BLUE WHITE AND GREEN

Jewish Family Home care understands the need for everyone to combat Global Warming.  To this end we are providing environmentally friendly tote bags to our Home Health Aides which are made of up to 20% post-industrial recycled waste and are 100% recyclable.

The Jewish faith has always valued preservation of natural resources (ie. rotating cultivation of fields, water conservation, holidays honoring nature and harvests such as Tu B'Shvat and Sukkot). Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) emphasizes "giving back" and the earth certainly needs our input at this time.  As we all know, Israel is foremost in scientific endeavors to preserve water (from innovative water conservation techniques to being a forerunner in the research in the desalination process).

In addition, Jewish Family Home Care is an active participant in JNF Tree Planting.  We also use Electronic Mail where possible in communication with client’s families when appropriate, and our RNs in the field.  We are looking into paper free files and interoffice memos and will be encouraging our building management to initiate a recycling program.

Jewish Family Home Care is proud to be a part of the effort to control Climate Change by "Going Green".
