HAPPY CHANUKAH

We all know the story of Chanukah and the Miracle of the oil lasting 8 days, but did you know:

Chanukah Tidbits

 MENORAHS

1975       The first large public menorah lighting was held at Union Station in San

                   Francisco.

              •   A Chanukah menorah was placed atop the Statue of Liberty.

2007      •   A 30 ft. menorah outfitted with state of the art LED lights to reduce its

carbon footprint was “lit” at Trafalgar Square.  It was the first time a

menorah was lit at the landmark

              •  More than 4 million menorah kits were distributed by Chabad Lubavitch

                 institutions around the world.

              •  The Menorah in the Temple in Jerusalem was decorated with 22 cups-

All turned upside down!  This was a sign of G-d's blessing pouring down

                 upon the world.

Jewish Family Home Care - BLUE WHITE AND GREEN

Jewish Family Home care understands the need for everyone to combat Global Warming.  To this end we are providing environmentally friendly tote bags to our Home Health Aides which are made of up to 20% post-industrial recycled waste and are 100% recyclable.

The Jewish faith has always valued preservation of natural resources (ie. rotating cultivation of fields, water conservation, holidays honoring nature and harvests such as Tu B'Shvat and Sukkot). Tikkun Olam emphasizes "giving back" and the earth certainly needs our input at this time.  As we all know, Israel is foremost in scientific endeavors to preserve water (from innovative water conservation techniques to being a forerunner in the research in the desalination process).

In addition, Jewish Family Home Care is an active participant in JNF Tree Planting.  We also use Electronic Mail where possible in communication with client’s families when appropriate, and our RNs in the field.  We are looking into paper free files and interoffice memos and will be encouraging our building management to initiate a recycling program.

Jewish Family Home Care is proud to be a part of the effort to control Climate Change by "Going Green".

How can
Home Health Care
help me?

How do I know if I need help for a loved one? If you can answer yes to one or more of these questions, then yes, you probably do need help.

1. If you are worried about a loved one's safety, (have they had a recent fall, have unexplained bruises, their driving is questionable, the home disorganized and becoming unsafe), they probably need help.

2. Are you worried about your loved one's physical or mental health? Are they losing weight, sleeping too much, sudden memory loss or confusion, suspicion of excessive or inappropriate medication usage? They probably need help.

3. Are you worried about the quality of their life? Do they get out of the house on a regular basis, can they keep their doctor's appointments, do they have someone to help grocery shop, make sure they are eating properly. Have they stopped pursuing those activities that previously gave them pleasure? They probably need help.

4. Do you need help? An aging parent, or loved one, no matter how much we care about them, creates a stressful situation (especially if you do not live in the same town),  Let's face it, we will all be caregivers or need caregivers sometime. Do you need a surrogate family to oversee your loved one's needs? You probably need our help.

Call us for the help and support that you, and they, need. We will be happy to answer any questions that you have about home care.

       NOTICE TO SOCIAL WORKERS

We hope that you will refer your special needs clients to us.  You have concerns for your client's welfare, and so do we.  Call us and we will address your client's needs and your requirements.
